Around €10 million is the budget approved for Aljezur municipality in 2014, with priorities being the redevelopment and modernisation of its schools and the promotion of nature tourism.
“With central government transfers and municipal revenue getting slimmer and slimmer each year, our municipal budget now stands at €10,713,781,” said the Câmara, adding that “building works will not take place if there is no money”.
However, the programme to improve school establishments and ensure better conditions for pupils is set to continue into the new year, as is the organisation of the first event to promote nature tourism.
Other projects in the pipeline are the conclusion of the detailed plans for Vale da Telha and Paisagem Oceano, and the creation of business and employment support mechanisms.
