TWO PET dogs, which are believed to have partly eaten the body of their deceased owner near Aljezur, have been found and re-homed by the council veterinarian (see The Resident edition, January 4).
Dr Vasco Reis, Aljezur’s municipal kennel vet, told The Resident: “I continued investigating as to the whereabouts of the two dogs and eventually found them. The dogs were cared for at the kennels over the New Year but have now been collected by the Refúgio dos Burros charity.”
The identity of the man, believed to be a Swiss expatriate, has still not been confirmed by the authorities. A spokesman from the Swiss embassy said: “We cannot confirm any details relating to the deceased man or any of our citizens because of privacy laws.”
