Aljezur council uses the sun to power its facilities

In an effort to reduce its “environmental footprint”, Aljezur council has announced the installation of 100 solar thermal panels in the town’s swimming pool complex.

The idea is to use the renewable energy to heat the water.

The project will cost more than €222,000 – 65% of which is covered by community funding – and follows similar council initiatives, including the installation of 12 solar panels at the local football stadium, as well as a 2,000-litre deposit for rainwater.
