Like so many other events, Aljezur’s famous Sweet Potato Festival will not be going ahead this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But organisers have found a different way of celebrating what locals describe as “the best sweet potato in the world”.
Between November 27 and December 8, the borough’s sweet potatoes can be ordered online on the local council’s website (www.cm-aljezur.pt).
The initiative is being organised by the local council, the association of Aljezur sweet potato producers, CTT Portugal and Dott.pt.
Making sure everyone knows just how special Aljezur’s sweet potatoes are has been a common goal of the local council and the association of sweet potato producers in recent years, the local authority said in a statement to the press.
