The Algarve’s best secret surf spots have been highlighted in a new online series named ‘Portugal Back to Back’.

“In this episode, Nic explores Faro with Luca Guichard, a local surfer. Together, they uncover the hidden treasures of the Faro islands and the magic of the waves generated by the Levante, an east wind that blows through the Strait of Gibraltar and pushes warm Mediterranean waters onto the southern coast of Portugal, creating special surfing conditions. In addition to some unexpected surf sessions, the duo also swims in hidden waterfalls and explores the picturesque town of Tavira,” says the team behind the series.

The upcoming episodes will focus on several other surf destinations in Portugal, including Peniche (episode due to be launched on October 9), Aveiro (October 23), Viana (November 6), Azores (November 20) and Nazaré (December 4).

The episodes are seven to 10-minutes long and can be viewed on Nic Von Rupp’s YouTube page as well as on extreme sports channel Fuel TV.
