Around 200 sailors will be taking part in the ‘Volta ao Algarve à Vela’, the region’s most important sailing competition to be held between July 18 and 20.
The event is organised by Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro in a bid to prove that the Algarve is perfect for sailing and to promote the sport at the same time.
Now in its 27th edition, the competition is divided into three stages – Lagos-Albufeira (July 18); Albufeira-Culatra (July 19) and Culatra-Tavira (July 20).
“We have no doubts that this competition will become one of the most important regattas in the national and even international circuit,” organisers say.
In fact, they say the event is already known as one of the most important sailing regattas in Portugal.
