Algarve’s nursing workforce bolstered to face virus

The nursing workforce is being bolstered in the Algarve this summer so that health centres are better equipped to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Regional health authority ARS Algarve confirmed that it is looking to hire 42 nurses to boost the response of medical teams during the summer season, especially as the country continues to adjust to a ‘new normal’.

Nurses can submit their applications on the ARS website until next Monday (June 29).

This is the latest attempt to recruit more health professionals for the Algarve’s public health services.

Earlier this month, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Health signed a government order allowing doctors and nurses working elsewhere in the country to temporarily transfer to the Algarve to work at the region’s public hospitals and health centres (click here).
