Alcantarilha has been chosen as the location for Portugal’s second Naterial by Leroy Merlin store.
The store opens this Thursday (March 2) at the Sudoeste Retail Park, near the Burger King restaurant, and is part of Leroy Merlin’s new Naterial concept, which is completely geared towards outdoor spaces such as gardens, terraces and balconies.
The Resident spoke with Juanjo Tejedo, Operational Coach Leader at Leroy Merlin and head of the Naterial shop concept in Portugal, to learn more about what this store will bring to the Algarve and why Alcantarilha was chosen as the location for the store.
As he explained, the south of Portugal is “known for its mild and sunny weather, which means greater enjoyment of outdoor spaces,” making the Algarve a perfect choice.
“The main focus of this concept is to encourage homeowners to make the most of their outdoor spaces, giving preference to quality and comfort. Alcantarilha was chosen as the location to open our second Naterial store because it gathers a number of positive points,” said Tejedo.
“It’s a strategic and central location in the Algarve, allowing easy access, with good roads – given the proximity of the EN125 and the A22, it was almost a natural choice.”
The Naterial store in Alcantarilha is the second store to open on a national scale – the first opened in Sintra in 2022 – and the fourth in the Iberian Peninsula, joining the two other Naterial stores in Spain: in Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona.
According to Juanjo Tejedo, the store brings many “advantages” to the Algarve.
“This new store concept is committed to providing a complete experience, with 58 inspirational spaces, a careful and specialised service provided by Naterial project advisors and high quality products, like garden furniture, barbecues and pergolas,” Tejedo said.
The store in Alcantarilha will attempt to help customers “find everything they need to equip terraces and balconies, organise storage spaces and enjoy their outdoor living spaces”.
“With a wide range of garden furniture, to dine or relax, and accessories, the new store allows outdoor enthusiasts to choose the best options for year-round outdoor living. Naterial allows the customer to be inspired, to receive support from a specialised team and to access solutions and products designed for the outdoors, with comfort, quality and the seal of trust that Leroy Merlin customers are accustomed to,” he said.
The store will be open Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 9pm in winter-time and from 10am to 10pm in summer-time.
