Algarve’s first Careers Fair organised by Info At Your Door and Gwenda Daud, a resident and international careers’ adviser, was a success, with more than 200 students from across the region attending.
Info At Your Door was created by Janet Tartaglia from Ibex Insurance, Philippa Rowat from Currencies Direct and Raoul Ruiz Martinez from EuroFinesco. The underlying concept of this group is aimed at organising small events at a local level, to present information about their services and products that can benefit the Algarve community.
Since the organisers all have children in local and international schools, their most recent project drove them to address the lack of careers information available to students in the Algarve.
Philippa Rowat, on behalf of Info At Your Door, said: “It was great to build stronger relationships with the businesses that we had invited and the professional résumés of the delegates there were quite amazing.
“It was good to give something back to the local community and invest some time and money in the goals and aspirations of the next generation.”
It is now hoped that the careers fair will become an annual event.
