Algarve tourism boss Desidério Silva has been named president of Portugal’s tourism association ANT (Associação Nacional to Turismo).
The decision was “unanimous” and will keep Silva as the association’s top official until 2018.
Following the announcement, Silva said he will do everything he can to make ANT “stronger, more lively and dynamic” in order to help the development of Portugal’s tourism sector.
In a nutshell, he said the association should serve as a meeting point for “solutions, strategies and common goals” from all tourism regions that make up the association, created in 2013.
The association was previously led by Pedro Machado, tourism chief for the centre of Portugal.
