Odelouca River Valley 2007, a red wine from Quinta do Francês, has won the title of Best Algarve Wine and a gold medal in the category of red wines at a wine competition held at Fatacil in Lagoa this year.
The contest took place during the Fatacil fair, where a total of 13 medals were awarded by way of six gold medals and seven silver medals in the categories of Red, White, Rosé and Fortified Wines.
The judging panel was presided over by oenologist and journalist from the Algarve, Aníbal Coutinho, who has participated in the judging of many competitions at both national and international levels.
All winning wines, with the exception of Odelouca River Valley, were from 2008 and gold medals went to Alvor Singular White from Quinta Morgado da Torre, Marquês dos Vales 1ª Selecção White from Quinta dos Vales, fortified wine Condelippe from Única Algarve Wine Cooperative, João Clara Red from Quinta João Clara and Lagoa Reserva Red from Única.
Silver medals went to Rosé Paxa from Paxá Wines, Cabrita Rosé from José Maria Cabrita, Foral de Portimão – Petit Verdout Red from Quinta da Penina, Terras da Luz Red and Fuseta Red from Quinta dos Correias, Alvor Colheita Seleccionada Red from Quinta Morgado da Torre and Tinto Cabrita Red from Quinta da Vinha.
