Five Algarve restaurants have received ‘Gold Forks’ in the 2016 edition of ‘Boa Cama, Boa Mesa’, a guide to Portugal’s best hotels and restaurants published by Expresso newspaper.
The prized restaurants are Al Quimia and Vila Joya in Albufeira, Pequeno Mundo and São Gabriel in Loulé and Ocean in Porches.
The distinctions were awarded on Tuesday (March 22) at Montes Claros in Lisbon.
The foremost winner of the night was Lisbon’s Feitoria restaurant, which not only received the ‘Platinum Fork’ but also saw Head Chef João Rodrigues named ‘Chef of the Year 2016’.
Other winners included Lisboeta (‘Revelation of the Year’), Herdade do Esporão (‘Environmental Sustainability’) and Belcanto (‘Best Wine Service’).
The Algarve also brought home four ‘Gold Keys’ – an accolade attributed to the country’s best hotels.
Among the winners were Conrad Algarve (Albufeira), Martinhal Beach & Resort Hotel (Sagres), Vila Monte Farm House (Olhão) and Vila Vita Parc (Porches).
The ‘Boa Cama, Boa Mesa’ guide will be available for sale this Friday (March 24) for €9.90.
