Algarve winery

Six million euros will be invested in the new Única Algarve Wine Cooperative to be built in Lagoa by 2012.

Jaime Silva, Minister of Agriculture, was in the area on Friday, August 21 for the official announcement of the project, which will be state and EU funded by 50 per cent.

The Única Algarve Wine Cooperative, which results from the fusion of the Lagoa and Lagos wine cooperatives, will be located in the Sítio do Canada, in the Lagoa council, covering an area of 12 hectares.

Using modern methods and equipment, the new winery is expected to produce three millions litres of wine per year.
