An Algarvean red wine from a Lagos-based producer has been chosen by a British writer as one of Portugal’s top 50 wines.
Sarah Ahmed chose the Monte da Casteleja Maria Selection red wine from 2007 as one of the top 50 wines in the country.
This list has been commissioned annually since 2005 by the Association of Portuguese Wine Importers (APWI), which chooses a different British wine expert each year to write about Portuguese wines. To make her choice, Sarah Ahmed made more than five journeys across Portugal during 2009 and tasted hundreds of wines across the country.
The Monte da Casteleja red wine from 2007 has also been chosen by wine expert José Silva for Portuguese magazine Evasões as one of the top 150 wines for 2010.
