Algarve welcomes back film director

Film director Kristjan Knigge describes himself as a third generation foreign Algarvian and has returned from his home in Holland to take part in the creation of the new film project based here in the Algarve, The Right Juice.

Kristjan Knigge said: “I returned to the Algarve to be part of the film after I realised that here I have a huge asset at my fingertips, not only in the magnificent locations but also in the community itself”.

The purpose of The Right Juice film is described as being threefold.

A spokesman for the film said: “The film is being made to entertain, move and inform people. Entertain because it’s an engaging story, emotional because it has a human message, an environmental message, and informative because it depicts aspects and characters of the Algarve that many people who visit here don’t often see”.

The spokesman added: “There are, of course, some familiar landmarks. Vila Vita Parc Resort and Zoomarine are on board with both sponsorship and locations – but there will be no beaches or golf courses, rather more rural locations, and one or two hidden treasures that may be a revelation even to the people living here.”

The film project is now gathering momentum and the production team are in negotiation with a variety of potential lead actors, while many people are offering services and local businesses are keen to get involved with the film.

Backing for the film is coming in many different forms including the support of the Algarve Film Commission.

The film is scheduled for shooting over the winter months and for release at the end of summer 2012.
