Scandinavian football teams will be visiting the Algarve at the end of the month to take part in the first ever Atlantic Cup at the Algarve Stadium.
Brondby and Odense from Denmark and Elfsborg and Helsingborg from Sweden will be taking part in the tournament on January 27, 28 and 31 and on February 3, with teams arriving in the region on January 25.
The event has been organised by the Swedish international player and former Benfica footballer Stefan Schwarz in association with Sporting Events Limited.
A spokesman from the organisers said: “The excellent training facilities for teams in the Algarve combined with the Portuguese hospitality are important factors in the tournament that could well be repeated in the future.”
All the matches will be covered by European television channels and broadcast to a global audience.
