Algarve wants Spain’s high-speed train to link up with Faro

The chairman of the Algarve regional coordination and development commission (CCDR) says he would like progress to be made at the next Iberian Summit in Viana do Castelo on the project to continue the Madrid-Seville high-speed rail line to Huelva and Faro. Mobility issues between the Algarve and Spain’s Andalusia region are a matter that José Apolinário considers “most important for the southern region of the country” and which he would like to see discussed at the meeting between the governments of Portugal and Spain scheduled for November 4. “The continuation of the Mediterranean rail corridor to Faro makes perfect sense from a European point of view,” he told Lusa news agency.
