The Algarve Ukulele Band & Choir held a Christmas Concert at Restaurante Solar das Divas near Estoi on December 13.
The band played to a packed house songs ranging from Christmas songs such as ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Mary’s Boy Child’ to rebel rousers such as ‘Whisky in the Jar’. The band finished with ‘Dance the Night Away’, which some people found the energy to do considering the three-course lunch provided by the restaurant.
The event raised over €300 in aid of the Salvation Army whose workload is immense at this time of year, providing food, toys and presents for families in need across the Algarve.
The band’s next show is this Saturday (December 19) at the Auditorium of Vale de Lobo. Starting at 6pm, the show will be in two parts with the Salvation Army playing some songs during the interval. Tickets cost €10.
