Portugal’s Secretary of State for Tourism will be the guest speaker at the next lunch-debate organised by the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) taking place on May 15 at the Hilton Vilamoura as Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa from 12.30pm.
Dra. Cecília Meireles will be addressing the audience about the challenges facing the tourism sector in the region under the theme “Algarve: More than Just Sun and Sea”.
The tourism sector in Portugal remains one of the most promising for the Portuguese economy and one which rapidly generates employment.
Chris Barton from the BPCC said: “In a state of general economic crisis, it is essential to diversify towards new target groups whilst simultaneously maintaining traditional strategic markets such as the UK.
“Consequently, the Plano Estratégico Nacional do Turismo (national strategic plan for tourism) assumes even greater importance, aiming to invigorate the sector until 2015 through the implementation of various projects related to the development of new products and innovative content, intervention in tourist areas of interest, by attracting international events, improving accessibility, promoting brands and national destinations, and much more.” Dra. Cecília Meireles will enlightening guests on these subjects.
