Memories of Algarve tourism are being celebrated with new images and stories about the region that are being uploaded to the official Algarve Tourism Board blog.
The blog, found at blog.turismodoalgarve.pt, is part of a new initiative to promote the tradition of tourism within the Algarve and different memories will be posted daily until the end of the year.
Already featured on the blog are examples of tourism brochures from throughout the decades, including details of a pamphlet on the region made by Harry and Rose Chandler in 1970, a guide to Praia da Rocha and Portimão from 1940 and a tourist map of the region produced in 1944.
Remembering the history of tourism in the Algarve through the blog has been developed as part of the centennial celebrations of tourism in Portugal this year and is also open for members of the public to take part in.

A spokesman from the Algarve Tourism Board said: “Personal stories related to the development of tourism, which have until now been hidden in the bottom of drawers, can now be shared and we welcome contributions from everyone.”
