Algarve tourism named “trustworthy brand”

The Algarve’s tourism sector has been named a ‘Marca de Confiança’ (trustworthy brand) by the readers of Seleções, the Portuguese version of Reader’s Digest.
It is the first time a tourism region has been given this accolade.

Algarve tourism boss Desidério Silva welcomed the news, saying more people trust the region due to “its climate, safety, diverse choice of events and activities, good accessibility and hospitality”.

The Algarve celebrated its “best year” for tourism in 2015, setting records in terms of hotel bookings, golf rounds played and passengers using Faro Airport.

It was the 16th year of Selecções ‘Marcas de Confiança’.

Other winners this year include Continente (hypermarkets/supermarkets), Worten (non-food retail), Sportzone (sports), NOS (telecommunications) and EDP (public service).
Out of the 65 winners voted by the magazine’s 13,200 subscribers, 29 were Portuguese companies/brands.
