The Algarve will be hosting a stage of the 2021 BP Portugal Cross Country Rally, the first race of the year of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies.
The race will be divided into five stages between April 8 and 13, totalling 800kms between Alcácer do Sal, Alcoutim, Almodôvar, Ferreira do Alentejo, Grândola, Loulé, Mértola, Odemira, Ourique, Santiago do Cacém and Sines.
Alcoutim Council has provided €10,000 in financial support to ACP (Portuguese Automobile Club), which organises the event.
“Attracting the world’s best drivers and teams from many classes, the BP Ultimate Portugal Cross Country Rally will certainly be an excellent way of promoting the municipality, as it is an event that will receive ample media coverage both nationally and international,” said Alcoutim Mayor Osvaldo Gonçalves, highlighting the Algarve’s “excellent” conditions to host “these kinds of events”.
