Danish football team Brøndby IF took on Portimonense SC in a friendly match at the Oceânico Amendoeira Golf Resort near Silves on January 29.
Brøndby IF had travelled to the Algarve to take part in the inaugural Atlantic Cup and drew with the local top flight Portuguese team at the sports club of the resort.
The friendly match was organised by former Millwall player Brian Horne, who has also organised the Atlantic Cup with ex-Benfica player Stefan Schwarz.
Brøndby IF is a top Danish team, having won 10 national Danish Football Championship titles and five national Danish Cups.
Meanwhile, Portimonense, back in the Premier league for the first time since 1988, have previously played a friendly match at the Amendoeira Sports Club against top Ukrainian team Dynamo Kiev FC earlier in 2010 and Head Coach Litos was very impressed with the venue and said: “The facility is great, and the pitch is in excellent condition.”
Ron Price, the manager of the Amendoeira Sports Club, said: “It was a good training game and both sides benefited from this highly competitive match.”
