Algarve students help babies at risk

Three students from the University of the Algarve campus in Portimão have launched a campaign to help babies at risk as part of their curricular activity.

The students, Ana Santos, Ana Lourenço and Dora Guilherme, are collecting goods for national charity Ajuda de Berço (Cot Support), which takes in children from birth up to three years of age. These children have either been abandoned, became orphans or were taken from their families by the courts for being considered at risk.

The institution is in need of specific items, which include shampoo, bath foam/gel, hair conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste,  semi-skimmed milk, peeled tomatoes (tin), powdered chocolate (for children) and  litter bags.

Donations can be made until December 30 and delivered to Bombeiros stations in Loulé, Alcoutim, Vila do Bispo, Silves, Monchique, Olhão, Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Albufeira, Vila Real de Santo António and Faro, or at the afpop office in Portimão and Medal office in Almancil.

The goods will then be collected by courier company Iberomail and delivered to the Ajuda de Berço head office in Lisbon for distribution.
