THE FIRST stage of the European Longboard Tour in Faro featuring many of the best surfers in Europe saw Frenchman Timothee Creignou take top honours.
Second and third places were occupied by Britons Ben Skinner and Adam Griffith while Portugal’s Miguel Ruivo was the best national competitor in fourth. In terms of national ranking points Diogo Goncalves boosted his tally considerably and could be crowned Portuguese champion following the next stage. The event, blessed by waves of up to seven feet in height and brilliant sunshine, exceeded all expectations and once more demonstrated the region’s great potential to organise big surf events.
