The winners of the Euroshorts Film Competition 2013, Benoit Detalle and Marija Jacimovic (pictured), were in the Algarve from August 18 to August 20 to shoot scenes for a promotional video about Europe. The two film makers filmed several landscapes in Albufeira and Faro, focusing mainly on the cities’ cultural heritage and monuments, as well as on local people.
The Euroshorts Film Competition 2013 was held by the European Travel Commission, which alongside the European Commission and Screen South invited several directors across Europe to present their ideas for the production of a promotional video to be shown in target tourist markets, such as the USA, Canada, Latin America, China, Japan and Australia.
The project is now in the post-production stage and is expected to be presented to the public around mid-November.
In a press release sent to the Algarve Resident, APAL, the Albufeira promotion bureau, said that the inclusion of the region in a video that aims to promote Europe shows “the importance that the Algarve has in the European context as a tourist product”.
