Algarve seeks to woo Spanish tourists in Madrid

Algarve is pitching itself to Spanish tourists in Madrid

The Algarve is promoting itself once more at the 2024 edition of Fitur, an international tourism fair taking place in Madrid from Wednesday until Sunday (January 24-28).

The region’s wines, food, culture, nature and beaches will be the main selling points that Algarve tourism authorities hope will attract more Spanish holidaymakers to the region in 2024.

Algarve tourism chief André Gomes highlights that the region welcomed 325,000 Spanish guests between January and November 2023. “These are numbers we want to see grow”.

The head of the regional tourism board (RTA) and association (ATA) added that the “outlook for 2024 is positive for the Algarve,” with the year “starting auspiciously with new air routes and major events, such as the Michelin Gala, the Volta ao Algarve, and the Moto GP.”

This year, FITUR will welcome 9,000 participants from the tourism sector from 152 countries, featuring a total of 806 exhibitors. The Algarve will be part of the national stand of Turismo de Portugal (pavilion 4), which can be visited every day of the fair from 10am.
