Despite the uncertainties of the ongoing pandemic, regional gastronomic event Rota do Petisco is returning for its 11th year with organisers again encouraging restaurants to participate.
The gastronomic route, which was ‘born’ in Portimão but has grown to include restaurants and eateries from all over the Algarve, will this year take place between September 10 and October 10.
The concept is simple, with each participating restaurant presenting a tapas-sized dish or dessert.
Last year’s Rota do Petisco was hailed a “success”, with organisers saying that it “overcame all the adversities posed by the pandemic”.
The goal is again to get people out supporting local restaurants.
“Participating establishments will be challenged to present innovative dishes with a strong regional stamp, both in the products used and how they are cooked,” says Teia d’Impulsos, the association that organises the event.
This year will also mark the launch of ‘A Rota do Mundo’, a new segment of the event which is encouraging foreign cuisine restaurants to join the ‘gastronomic route’.
