With its sub-tropical gardens, clifftop location overlooking the ocean and reputation for excellent gastronomy and service, Vila Vita Parc in Porches is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the Algarve, particularly for key markets such as the UK, Ireland and Holland.
However, it is now also starting to appeal to other non-traditional markets, in particular India.
The luxury resort recently hosted an Indian wedding straight out of a Bollywood movie, with the couple, Nitesh and Sandi from London, welcoming over 140 guests to an event which was a spectacle of colour and exuberation, and included exotic dancing, parades, henna painting and even the groom on horseback.
The wedding ceremony was held in a gazebo by the lake, followed by a cocktail reception, dinner with traditional Indian cuisine, and an evening of music and dance.
The day was captured by the Portuguese national TV channel TVI, who included it in a report on foreign weddings in the Algarve.
