The Algarve’s hotel industry continued to boom in July, with the number of rooms booked in the region reaching 87.4% – a 2.2% increase compared to last year.
The boost was spurred mostly from increases in the number of British (+5.9 percentage points) and Irish (+1pp) tourists. Elsewhere, the number of Portuguese holidaymakers dropped 6.3pp.
Bookings increased the most in Carvoeiro/Armação de Pêra (+3.6pp), Lagos/Sagres (+2.7pp) and Albufeira (+2.6pp).
