Algarve registers 11.5% increase in May hotel bookings

Hotel bookings in the Algarve increased 11.5% in May compared to the same time last year, with 71.8% of the region’s hotel rooms occupied. According to hoteliers association AHETA, it is the highest percentage since 2000 (74.9%). The highest increases were in Lagos/Sagres (+11.6 percentage points) and Portimão/ Praia da Rocha (+9.1pp), while there were more British (+3.4pp), Dutch (+2.2pp) and Irish (+1.2pp) holidaymakers in the Algarve. Hotel business was also up 13.3%.
