The Algarve is in the running to be named Europe’s Leading Beach Destination for the sixth time in the European edition of the World Travel Awards 2019, often described as the “Oscars” of the tourism sector.
Around 70 Algarve hotels and resorts are also nominated for awards such as Europe’s Leading hotel and Europe’s Leading Resort.
The Algarve has already been named the Leading Beach Destination in Europe in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and will have to outweigh other nominees like Cannes (France), Mallorca and Marbella (Spain), Sardinia (Italy), Ölüdeniz (Turkey), and Corfu and Peloponnese (Greece) to be crowned for the sixth time.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to “acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.” The awards are recognised globally as the “ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.”
