Algarve promoted as ideal Easter destination

A promotional campaign advertising the Algarve as the perfect destination for an Easter holiday – or even just a break – has been launched by the Algarve Tourism Board throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
Ads featuring a pair of flip-flops cheekily buried into the sand will be placed in Portuguese and Spanish magazines and newspapers, as well as on the back of buses in Portugal’s main city areas.
The tourism board hopes its campaign will bring people flocking.
Tourism boss Desidério Silva said: “The goal is to strengthen the demand of the Portuguese and Spanish markets – especially in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto and the Spanish communities of Andalusia, Estremadura and Galiza – so that we can start off the season with a good occupancy rate.”
The campaign will be ongoing until April 25.
The tourism board is planning additional campaigns in Lisbon to encourage Algarve getaways during the upcoming bank holidays of May 1 and June 10 and 13.
