Algarve projects fail to impress jury

Four and five star hotel chain Tivoli Hotels & Resorts was the only company with an Algarve presence to receive a prize in the Portugal Tourism Awards 2010.

The group received top prize in the Quality of Service category for their project ‘Experience More’ launched in 2008, which aims to give customers a “unique holiday experience” by ensuring that their time in their destination of choice is as enjoyable as possible from the moment they make their reservation until they return home.

A spokesman from the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts told the Algarve Resident: “We like to be unique in our approach. A trip to the local market with our head chef is one of the experiences we have on offer for our guests.”

The Tivoli presence in the Algarve includes the Tivoli Victoria Vilamoura, Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, Tivoli Carvoeiro, Tivoli Marina Portimão and Tivoli Lagos. The sixth Tourism Awards Ceremony, organised by the national tourism board Turismo de Portugal and this year held at the Lisbon Tourism Fair BTL in February, distinguished the best 2010 tourism projects in Portugal, both public and private, as well as a personality who had excelled in promoting Portugal as a tourist destination.
