Algarve Pirates take on the Porto Mutts

The Algarve’s only American Football team, the Algarve Pirates, will be continuing their 2014 campaign with a home game this weekend against the Mutts from Porto.
The game will be played at the Pirates’ home ground at Complexo Desportivo in Mexilhoeira Grande, on Sunday February 9, with the match kicking-off at 12pm.
After their last home game win against the Lisbon Devils, the Pirates are expecting tough going against the Mutts, who were runners-up in last season’s Grand Final.
Head coach Pedro Viana was delighted with the crowd’s participation at their last home game. “In the 4th quarter, when we were starting to feel tired and had to defend our lead, the crowd really did a fantastic job of supporting us and the loud noise they made certainly helped spur us on when we needed the extra strength,” he said.
“I hope that as this is a lunchtime game we can get even more people to come and support us and be our own 12th man in Mexilhoeira Grande.”
Entry to the game is free.
