SÃO BRÁS de Alportel will be hosting a special Easter concert, performed by the Algarve Orchestra, tomorrow (March 26), in the Cine-Teatro at 9.30pm. The orchestra will be conducted by Manuel Teixeira Ferreira, who studied at the Herbert von Karajan Academy in Berlin and has directed other orchestras, notably the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the New Philharmonic. The 31 musicians, who form the Algarve Orchestra, will interpret works from various composers, including Rossini, Vivaldi, Haydn and Handel. There will also be a performance of the Messiahs, one of the most important musical works to celebrate Easter. This will be accompanied by the beautiful voice of mezzo-soprano Paula Dória, who has sung as a soloist in Porto Coliseum and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
