A fundraising gala dinner organised by the Algarve Oncology Association will take place this Saturday, February 16 at the Conrad Algarve Hotel in Quinta do Lago, at 8pm.
The event will aim to raise funds to contribute to new local projects, in particular the construction of a centre to bring under one roof the various medical specialties involved in the screening, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients.
“In addition to substantially improving the conditions offered to patients, the centre will also allow better correlation between the various multidisciplinary needs, from screening to rehabilitation, covering the multiple and unpleasant phases of this battle, and bringing a vast improvement to services of this nature in the region,” say organisers.
The new centre, to be located in the Faro municipality, will be made available to the entire Algarve community, especially the most isolated ones, where distances can be a real obstacle to access essential care.
“It is important to maximise every opportunity for these projects to become a reality in the name of improving quality of life and health in the region,” says the AOA.
“One of today’s most loved Portuguese Fado singers will entertain the guests.”
The cost of the dinner is €160. After expenses, all proceeds will be donated to the cause. Tickets are available by emailing [email protected]
