Algarve Nature Week attracts over 6,000 people

Over 6,000 people took part in the first ‘Algarve Nature Week’, held between April 11 and 19 and promoting the Algarve as a “top-class destination” for outdoor fun.

According to the regional tourism board (RTA), the event “breathed new life” into the sector.

“We are tallying the number of nature tourism bookings and are already sure the event generated more demand for this niche,” RTA president Desidério Silva said in an official statement.

Due to the success, Silva guaranteed ‘Algarve Nature Week’ will be back next year.

In its inaugural year, the event featured all kinds of outdoor activities, including walks, birdwatching, dolphin and whale watching, boat trips, cycle outings, horseback and donkey rides, and even airborne and underwater sports.

An exhibition was also held at Faro’s Parque Ribeirinho, where 50 companies in the sector showcased their services.
