The Algarve Motor Park has been voted Motorsport Facility of the Year in the Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards 2009, held in Cologne, Germany between November 3 and 5.
These annual awards recognise the best teams, personalities, technology and infrastructures in the motoring world.
The Algarve Motor Park beat the other three finalists in its category, Nüburging, Rally Finland and zMax Dragway.
Algarve-based Parkalgar team rider, Miguel Praia, received the award in person in Cologne.
Gary Anderson, ex-F1 technical director and one of the judges for the awards, said: “The Algarve Motor Park is one of the best circuits at the moment. It has a unique configuration and demanding curves that provide unique challenges, to both pilots and the engineers: to make a car go fast on this circuit is to guarantee the rest of the season.”
Paulo Pinheiro, CEO of the Algarve Motor Park, said: “Seeing the name of our circuit and work internationally recognised is without a shadow of a doubt an important moment.
“We are very proud of this prize and honoured to have so many specialists holding our track in such esteem.”
