Algarve Masters

The qualification phase of Portugal’s biggest nationwide amateur golf tournament, which will culminate in the October 4 Vale da Pinta final in Carvoeiro, is drawing to a close.

To date, 3,276 players have competed in the second edition of the Algarve Masters, taking part in 47 of the 50-event series.

They are aspiring to finish among the top two in the Algarve climax, a feat which will be rewarded with an invitation to the Pro-Am event preceding the Portugal Masters held at the Oceânico Victoria course in Vilamoura in mid-October.

Elsewhere, the Algarve’s Jose Maria Joia and top-ranked Portuguese junior Pedro Figueiredo were attempting to join compatriots Tiago Rodrigues and Miguel Gaspar in the second round of the British Boys Amateur Championships as the Algarve Resident was going to press.
