The first ever Algarve ‘Eco’ Marathon will take place in Faro on October 10 under the stewardship of the great Rosa Mota.
Organisers have the firm intention to establish the race as a regular event on the world circuit attracting the best performers in distance running.
To date more than 300 entries have already been received from people hoping to shine over the environmentally-friendly course making its way through the city streets before striding out into the Algarve capital’s picturesque rural hinterland.
Following the 9am municipal athletics track start, amateurs are also invited to compete in a parallel half-marathon.
