Algarve is region with highest 14-day rolling average for new cases of virus

Still crammed with summer visitors, the Algarve is now the region of Portugal that has the highest 14-day rolling average for incidence of new cases. Whereas the country’s national average is just 315 new cases per 100,000 of population, the Algarve’s regional average is 720. Almost every borough (with exception of Monchique and Alcountim) is on the ‘red list’ – meaning they have more than 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. For the tally published in newspapers today, the list of infections per Algarve municipality is:
