The Portuguese national football team took on Panama at the Stadium of the Algarve last Wednesday night (played after the Algarve Resident went to press) in its first game since the unlucky Euro’2012 semi-final defeat to Spain.
“We want to play well and leave a good impression of Panama in Portugal and Europe in general during this unique opportunity”, said visitors’ manager Julio Dely Valdes ahead of the match between the two countries who until this point had never met before.
The Algarve Resident incorrectly wrote last week that the match was on Tuesday. Apologies to our readers for the inconvenience this may have caused.
