Hotel bookings in the Algarve in November remained the same as last year with 43.5% of rooms booked despite a significant drop in the number of British holidaymakers (-17.4%).
The news was revealed this week by the Algarve’s hoteliers’ association AHETA.
Although the reasons behind the decrease are not explained, the association pointed out, however, that the number of overnight stays by British holidaymakers has increased 4.1% since the start of the year.
The biggest visitor increases in November were recorded among the Spanish (+44.1%), Portuguese (+18.2%) and Dutch (+15.4%).
AHETA also revealed that the occupation rate at Algarve hotels is slightly up (+0.4%) compared to last year.
Business volume was also up 4.9% compared to the same month in 2018, while it has also increased 3.1% since the start of the year.
