Every hour new stories of solidarity and solutions to the growing refugee problem resulting from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine appear in the Portuguese press.
Now Algarve hotels are reported to be mobilising to offer jobs and employment to fleeing families.
On the basis that the majority of families are mothers with children in arms (as the fathers have had to stay behind to fight), the Pestana group, for example, has said its offers include babysitting services for children.

This terrible situation for Ukrainians could resolve a local problem while giving traumatised people the chance to recover in safety, and an opportunity to rebuild their lives in a country within the European Union, under the NATO umbrella – and with endless supplies of goodwill and sunshine.
