An online portal (www.algarvebooking.com) providing information on around 130 hotels in the Algarve and allowing people to book their holidays over the internet has been launched by regional hoteliers association AHETA.
Available in English and Portuguese, the site hopes to be a one-stop shop for tourists who are interested in learning more about where to stay in the Algarve.
According to AHETA, the region’s tourism sector needs not only to “diversify”, but also do a better job promoting hotels so that it can fight its ‘big bad wolf’ – seasonality.
The association stresses that online bookings have registered “very significant increases” in the last few years, and hopes that algarvebooking.com will become an important tool in the development of regional tourism.
For now, only 130 hotels are ‘onside’ but more are expected to add their names as time goes by.
