Algarve hotels lament worst July ever

Only 32.6% of the Algarve’s hotel rooms were booked last month, the worst rate ever for the month of July, according to data from regional hotel association AHETA.

The hotel sector has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the British government’s insistence on keeping Portugal off its ‘travel green list’.

The good news is that the figure increased when compared to June, when only 11.3% of the region’s hotel rooms were occupied.
