The Algarve’s hotels continue to register better results than last year.
Hotel bookings increased 7.6 percentage points (pp) last month compared to June 2014, with around 78% of hotel rooms booked.
Data from hoteliers association AHETA shows that the biggest increases were in the number of British (+1.9pp), German and Irish (+1.5pp) tourists.
As in May, the most popular destinations were Vilamoura/Quarteira/Quinta do Lago with 83% of hotel rooms booked, while Tavira stood on the opposite side of the list (72.2%).
Still, it was Tavira that registered the biggest increase compared to last year (+13.6pp), followed by Portimão/Praia da Rocha (+11pp) and Monte Gordo/VRSA (+10.6pp).
Data also shows that four-star hotels registered the highest level of bookings (81.3%), while three-star hotels recorded the lowest (74%).
