The Algarve Hotel and Tourism School will be hosting the first ‘Tourism Trade Show Algarve’ at its Faro headquarters on January 15 and 16.
Says the school, the event will feature forums, debates, workshops and demonstrations, all focusing on tourism-related activities.
One of the main themes of the ‘Tourism Trade Show’ will be the Mediterranean Diet and “its importance in the Algarve’s economy. A debate about the diet will be held during the event and moderated by Jorge Queiroz, who was one of the main promoters of the diet’s bid to become UNESCO heritage, and Artur Gregório, coordinator of the SlowMed Portugal project.
Hopes are that the event will attract the “main players” of the sector in the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia, as well as “present some of the sector’s new tendencies with innovative projects and many forums and debates”.
So far, the regional tourism board (RTA), the tourism and hotelier associations of the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia, the Algarve’s local councils, and many other schools have confirmed their presence.
The show will be running from 10am to 6.30pm on January 15 and from 9.30am to 8pm on January 16.
