Starting on Tuesday, urgent orthopedic cases stymied by the lack of available specialists in Algarve state hospitals are to be ‘passed on’ to the private sector for treatment.
The deal has been announced as “transitory” and will last only 30 days.
Patients who cannot be seen in due time by state-paid specialists will be treated at the Alvor and Gambelas units of Hospital Particular do Algarve.
Meantime, health chiefs confirm that efforts to attract professionals to a number of specialities are set to intensify.
